We want to share this knowledge with you to help you make informed buying decisions based on the evolving industry and consumer habits. The first major trend for Summer 2021 is relaxing, natural and down to earth. Here’s everything you need to know about Rustic Oasis…

“Bringing the Outdoors In, And The Indoors Out”

This trend is influenced by several cultural shifts such as digital detoxing, recycling, slow living and sustainability. It sees householders designing their homes with a more considered approach to living. They’re investing in outdoor and garden spaces to create a summer escape for respite, focus and socialising. The garden becomes a hub for al fresco dining and family entertainment. This relaxed trend aims to bring the outdoors in and vice versa, making use of pieces that can be used both inside and outside. Home decor embraces a new, slower pace of life, where householders find comfort and inspiration in activities and spaces that help them regulate and unwind.

“Warm, Neutral and Sun-Faded”

Inspired by the South of France, this trend embraces a warm and neutral colour palette that is calming and grounding. Baked and faded tones reflect the relaxation of sunsoaked days spent outdoors. Warm neutrals take inspiration from setting plaster, raw linens and creamy butter. While rust, peach and ochre yellow combine with sage and crisp white to create a breezy Summer feel.

“Natural & Handmade”

Householders find comfort in natural materials. Cane, rattan, wicker and seagrass are all trending materials that help to bring tactility into the home. They are used with a traditional, artisanal approach that radiates longevity and quality. As consumers become crafty, macrame, crochet, weaving and up-cycled furniture become popular for 2021. Hand-thrown glazed ceramics and beautiful functional ornaments decorate interior and exterior spaces, while furniture pieces retain their natural surfaces.
